New in β the monsoon collection
Built oncanvas.Made for Indian roads.
Genjis makes hand-stitched canvas sneakers for the way India actually moves β packed trains, midday heat, sudden rain. Light on your feet, tough on the commute.
How a Genjis pair gets made
Every pair passes through four hands before it reaches yours.
Woven in Kannur
Raw cotton canvas woven on traditional handlooms in Kerala, then washed and dyed in small batches.
Cut by hand
Panels are hand-cut to reduce fabric waste, checked for weave consistency before stitching.
Stitched in Bhiwandi
Uppers are hand-stitched at our partner workshop, with double seams at every stress point.
Soled and tested
Vulcanized rubber soles are heat-bonded on, then every batch is tested wet and dry.
Why people switch to Genjis
Breathable weave
Open-weave canvas built for 35Β°C afternoons, not for a European autumn.
Vulcanized grip sole
Heat-bonded rubber that holds on wet stairs, station platforms and gravel alike.
100% vegan
No leather, no animal glue β canvas, natural rubber and plant-based dye only.
Hand-checked finish
Every pair is inspected by hand for stitch quality before it leaves the workshop.
I've worn my Local High through two monsoons and the stitching still hasn't given up.

Finally a sneaker that breathes in Bengaluru heat instead of turning my socks into a sponge.
